A desire for the community ? Creating a mountain complex and inviting many people
The population of Shintoku Town peaked in 1965 and then began to decrease. We began exploring how to promote industry in Shintoku Town about 13 years ago.
The entire area of the town is 1,064 square kilometers, which is approximately half of the total area of Tokyo. With 89% of the town covered by forests, Shintoku Town has a national forest in its northern area, which is also designated as part of Daisetsuzan National Park. Located at the foot of the Higashi-Taisetsu Mountains, this area is visited by numerous mountaineers who climb Mt. Tomuraushi and various other mountains. I began to think about building accommodation facilities equipped with a mountaineering training center near Lake Kuttari Dam, which is located in the upper reaches of the Tokachi River, to create a facility complex with a hot spring where mountain climbing enthusiasts could enjoy themselves. This facility was born out of this desire for the region.

All-out mountaineering training center with a climbing tower
This center is operated by the president, who works full time, and a network of 20 mountaineering guides, who work as staff members at the school. Mountain climbing lessons and lectures are held between 14 and 18 times each year. Once or twice a month, accommodation programs for acquiring and practicing mountain climbing knowledge and sports climbing classes are offered.@
This climbing tower is Hokkaidofs first outdoor artificial wall, and measures 15 m in height. Various courses best suited for each season have been offered, such as overnight curricula for beginners, courses for advanced mountain climbers and trekking courses at Numanohara, a mysterious high moor, and Goshikigahara. From the entrance to Numanohara, one of the view points in Shintoku, Japanfs largest flower field can be seen.
Ice climbing lessons in winter are held only here in Hokkaido. Frozen ice walls are artificially created and lessons for enjoying ice climbing are also held. This facility will no doubt enhance the beauty of each season.

We transport hot spring water, at a temperature of 98Ž, twice each day over a 45-km distance.
Two types of hot spring water can be enjoyed here. I hope that visitors will fully enjoy the luxury of bathing in hot spring water from two sources at one location.
At our restaurant, we prepare dishes using a wide variety of local ingredients, such as landlocked salmon and other types of freshwater fish, wild vegetables, venison and buckwheat noodles. I hope that people will come here to go mountain climbing, enjoy the hot spring and savor local dishes. We have low-price packages for a limited time period.
I look forward to seeing you.
