Are ripened tomatoes that thoroughly absorbed nutrition until they ripen too luxurious?
【Mr. Kushida】 We take it for granted that we can pick ripe vegetables in a garden and eat them fresh. One guest, however, was very surprised at this and said, “Wow. When we harvest and eat red tomatoes, they are really sweet.” It was then that I realized for the first time the luxury and importance of eating vegetables raised in fields until they ripen. I realized anew that we can offer vegetables that cannot be eaten in urban areas no matter how much people there want to eat them.

I want visitors to take home the feeling they experienced when they touched a cow for the first time
【Mr. Kushida】 Several years ago, a guest from Osaka who came to milk cows said, “I once tried milking, but I did not feel like I really experienced milking. Therefore, I came here to try again.” When I asked why, he replied, “There were approximately 50 people in line. As soon as a person touched the cow’s udder and a photograph was taken, the clerk said, ‘Next.’ It all happened very quickly, and I was not satisfied with the experience.” When I heard this, I strongly felt that what he had experienced did not constitute coming in contact with a cow at all, and that rather than coming in contact with cows only for commemorative photographs, I wanted people to really come in contact with cows. This is one example of what I have learned from visitors.
Those who live here are surprised at what guests, who usually live in different places, find impressive and satisfactory.

Rhubarb: A herb that goes great with milk
【Mrs. Kushida】 We eat the stems of rhubarb in the same way we eat butterbur. It is, however, very sour. Three years ago, I learned how to make rhubarb jam in Kuriyama, and at long last I was able to make satisfactory jam this year. Rhubarb becomes most vivid in color around June 3, and is made into very delicious and colorful jam.

Time scheduling, a change in venue and doing something different for a change
【Mr. and Mrs. Kushida】 We believe that many urban people are under a great deal of stress. Distancing themselves from this stress and visiting a farm can serve as a diversion and release them from their stress. Visitors here spend a relaxing time in vast spaces for as long as time permits. When the weather is sunny, they can enjoy commanding a view of the mountains, and if they visit during the right season, they can try making rhubarb jam etc.
Please come and visit us to spend a relaxing time. Our entire family awaits your visit.
