Higashi-Taisetsu Mountains
Mountains for which alpinists yearn, where you can encounter valuable flora and fauna

The Higashi-Taisetsu Mountains are made up of mountains representative of Hokkaido, e.g. Mt. Nipesotsu, Mt. Upepesanke and Mt. Ishikari-dake. Visitors can encounter valuable flora and fauna, such as pika, which are believed to have survived the glacial age, and Blakiston’s fish owls, as well as enjoy this landscape filled with tranquility and mystery only found deep in the mountains. Therefore, be sure to get yourself in shape, make all possible preparations and equip yourself with all of the necessary gear before setting out to climb these mountains.
Recommended season The period appropriate for mountain climbing is from early June to mid-October.
Recommended points On the mountain summit, abundant alpine plants flower everywhere. In addition, Yezo spruces and Sakhalin firs have formed a primitive forest landscape.
