Lake Shikaribetsu
Located 810 m above sea level and with a circumference of approximately 16 km, this is Daisetsuzan National Parkfs only natural lake. Mt. Tenbo, situated to the east of the lake, is referred to as Kuchibiruyama (glip mountainh) because of its shape and the image it reflects on the lakefs surface. This mountain has become the symbol of Lake Shikaribetsu.

Here you can encounter cute pika, which survived the glacial age, black woodpeckers, Sika deer and other wildlife. This is also a spot filled with much attraction, where an abundance of invaluable nature remains. Visitors can also participate in a wide variety of outdoor activities, including trekking and canoeing. There are two spa hotels located beside Lake Shikaribetsu. Soaking in an open-air bath and gazing out over the lake is an experience that cannot be explained with words. Yamada Hot Spring, located along the way to Lake Nukabira, is also popular.
Recommended seasons A variety of scenes can be seen throughout all four seasons.
Recommended points In the current summer season, alpine plants are in bloom and animals are active. There may also be many pleasant encounters and fantastical scenes in which clouds hanging over the Tokachi Plain flow down from between the mountains onto the surface of the lake.
